My love for the piano was first kindled by my grandmother, who would play for us whenever she visited during my childhood. Her playing left a lasting impression on me, and I began formal piano lessons at the age of eight. Over time, classical music became not just an interest, but a life-long passion.
I pursued this calling academically, completing both my Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at North-West University's Potchefstroom campus. It was during this time that I encountered the world of antique piano restoration—a serendipitous discovery that introduced me to the rich, intricate craft of piano technology. This, combined with my musical background, led me to begin an apprenticeship, where I devoted myself to mastering the technical and artistic dimensions of the instrument.
The piano has been a constant companion throughout my life. My passion lies not only in music but also in breathing new life into neglected or worn instruments. There is a profound satisfaction in seeing an old piano restored to its former glory—singing once again with the voice it was always meant to have. It is, to me, a deeply rewarding and meaningful pursuit.
